People who live on Dallas clearly do not want this. Telling them their lifestyle is wrong and if they just open their eyes they will see the folly of their ways accomplishes nothing. If you work with their actual preferences instead of foisting your own into them you will see that there are still ways to make progress such as removing parking restrictions by utilizing self driving cars.

I lived in one of the most walkable neighborhoods in Chicago for 30 years before moving to suburbia with 0 walkability. It is completely untrue that walkability is secretly better than suburbia and those suburbanites don’t know what they’re missing.



GP is talking about government-subsidized housing. So it's not "their lifestyle is wrong" so much as "how should we subsidize housing costs with taxpayer money?" I just don't think building housing in the suburbs and buying residents a $30,000/year Waymo gift card is the most efficient or desirable approach.
