Perfectly captures it. Opus writes like it's an insecure person trying to impress a first date. Big words and strange structural rhetorical flourishes for no purpose. Like dude I'm just trying to summarize a few emails and meeting notes, I'm not prepping for the vocab section of the GREs.
I was only working on this occasionally, but I built an extension to block sites in a more creative way.
Basically I'm finding myself in a bind where:
- I spend too much time doomscrolling (X, reddit, HN etc)
- AI is making me lose touch with a lot of basic skills like coding, and I was already losing touch with doing real math
So I built an extension that blocks sites and forces you to actually solve a problem before you can get to a distracting site. The idea is to 1) block the reflex of visiting a site and getting a dopamine hit, and 2) at least get some mild cognitive benefit from it. I use it myself.
I write a blog and have always avoided AI images for exactly the reasons cited here. AI images feel like a more cynical version of stock imagery, for some reason. I think it's actually too bad because in a lot of cases AI images would actually be really great to include and a lot more evocative... but there's just no way to do it that doesn't inspire revulsion.
I'm offloading tons of my thinking to AI, and I don't like what it's doing to me. I think that I'm having trouble creating things on my own due to it, and tbh it's making me increasingly uncomfortable. I'm not even sure what to do because quitting AI also seems crazy, but it all seems like a bad trend not unlike social media.
Because of Joy, scientists developed a simple, non-invasive, three-minute skin swab test that analyzes sebum to diagnose Parkinson's. In laboratory settings, this test has shown an accuracy rate of over 90%.
Unfortunately that insight hasn't led closer to a cure.
It also turns out sort of bad to tell people they have a horrible neurodegenerative disease 10 years before the major symptoms start.
Why isn't everyone's mind blown? Well for the cynical explanation, look at the state of science education and what people said about Artemis, vaccines, etc. or optimistically, there are too many mind blowing discoveries to treat them all fairly.
I'll make sure to wear my Juggalo makeup the next time I visit China to avoid their face scanning technology. That'll surely help me blend into the background.
I don't know if I'm a crazy weirdo here but I find that talking to LLMs / using them for certain tasks that I find stressful improves my mental health.
Typically not much, but in practice if you truly have a unique technical moat it's easy enough that I'd get a provisional patent in place just in case.
I would start accumulating patents at a gradual pace at around $100m ARR in preparation for IPO, assuming that you feel that is in the cards.
